This past weekend Allie, Cameron, Sara Beth and I set off for our final trip of the semester. We left early Friday morning for the crazy city of Amsterdam. I wasn't expecting to love it, but I was blown away by the beauty of this city! The brownstone houses lining the many city canals were such a beautiful sight! Plus we were able to witness the beauty of those who helped the Jews during WWII as we visited the Anne Frank house and then the Corrie Ten Boom house in the neighboring city of Haarlem. We also went to the Van Gogh museum which may just be my favorite museum to date. Seriously, this three story museum featuring a vast collection of Van Gogh's distinct and beautiful work was incredible. The museum walked visitors through Van Gogh's development as an artist, it began with works by artists who influenced Van Gogh and ended with works by artists who were contemporaries of or were inspired by Van Gogh. I loved every bit of it!
It was just a quick overnight trip to Amsterdam and it definitely left me wanting more. So I guess exploring more of the Netherlands will have to be added to my list for the next time I live in Europe (if there is a next time...)!
Scenic canals and so many bikes in Amsterdam.
Standing by some more pretty brownstones with Allie.
Amsterdam Christmas markets with Cameron.
In the actual "Hiding Place" at the Corrie Ten Boom house.
Loving some FREE samples at the Haarlem market.
Picturesque windmills!
