1 month left in Brussels. 1000 words left to write.

This weekend marks the first weekend in over a month that I have been in Brussels! Sadly instead of spending the time adventuring around the city, I spent most of the time writing about the Stasi and the GDR, Economic Development in India, and Disney's Corporate Communications. With 35 pages down, I have 1000 words to go before I can say I have successfully made it through this whirlwind of a weekend! Despite the fact that so much of the weekend was spent in front of my computer screen, it was still good to be in Brussels and to take a break from the crazy travel schedule (at least for a few days)! Along with the 8+ pages of writing, each day provided some new insight into Brussels life. On Friday I discovered that I love the Parliament library (proving once again that working in the EU is my favorite part of Brussels). Saturday I had lunch at Mama Roma for the first time since the bad incidence of fish pizza and it more than redeemed itself. That night a group got together for a low key evening of delicious pasta and pink sauce (all the way from the US of A, thanks to my Mom's care package), some Belgian beer, and time to just sit and relax, which helped me to remember and appreciate the goodness of fun and restful hang out time with friends! Today I gained a new appreciation for walking in the brisk cold air, on a morning walk with Sara Beth, as well as a new delicious but dangerous discovery of a delightful and cheap bakery about 2 minutes from my apartment. Most importantly this weekend reminded me of how faithful the Lord is, I prayed for strength and productivity and He delivered, I think this is the first time ever that I am actually ahead of my writing goals! This is especially exciting, because now I can leave stress free for my week in Strasbourg, France for the November plenary session with my office and then on to weekend travel with my siblings! So much goodness ahead and yet only one month left in Brussels to pack it all in!
